One of the things we picked up from interviewing visitors of craft marketplaces was that some of the most delightful experiences they recalled was when they made new discoveries or were surprised by things they found within the marketplace. What if these moments could be discovered by filtering the stories shared on the platform in new manners?
More moments of magic
We wanted to create more moments of discovery and we wanted to allow users to explore the marketplace in less conventional ways.
So we created categories like Mood and Inspiration to search for products based on keywords sellers use in their sharing of the product story.
Inspiring creative work
We wanted to be able to inspire users through the process of searching by showing them the many ways a Process or Material could inspire different creations.
How it Works
So if a user were to filter their search by Process and they selected ‘Painting’, they would be shown the vastly different ways other creatives have used the process of painting in their creations, regardless of medium.
In showing users the many different ways a creative method or process can produce different types of outcomes, we hoped to reintroduce an element of surprise and delight in discovering something new through their search.
