What are cards?

All items and content on the site are displayed on the platform as Cards. Think of cards as modular containers within the platform that can be shifted around and shared. We created them because we realised that sellers were unsure of what counted as a story and for them to share their stories they needed a little prompt.

Why we created cards

One of the things we set out to do was to encourage more storytelling in online craft marketplaces. However, one of the barriers to this was that sellers were not sure how. Many marketplaces such as Etsy and Carousell try to encourage sellers to ‘tell their story’, but through our observation and interviews with sellers we realised that the big question they had was how were we going to do this?

Cards were developed as a way to help sellers break down their story with prompts.

Types of cards

Content Cards

Content cards contain stories shared on the platform.

Reposted Cards

After any card has been reposted, a header appears on the card to display the name of the user who reposted it and the original poster.

Item Cards

Item cards contain products being listed on the platform for sale.

Marketplace Cards

A Marketplace is a user curated collection of items. A Marketplace card contains a preview of some of the items within the collection.
